Characteristic of the subject
Tuition covers two morphological subjects. Tuition in histology includes cytology, general structure of normal human tissues and organs at light and electron microscopic levels. Morphology of cellular elements and characteristic components of extracellular matrix are emphasized. In the course of practical classes, students become familiar with basic differential diagnostics in identification of human tissues at light microscopic level and with basic histological techniques. In embryology, students receive knowledge about prenatal development of the human beings in the early phases of embryogenesis (1st – 3rd prenatal week).

Characteristic of the subject
Seminars oriented on practical study of histological slides broaden knowledge of microscopic structures of basic tissue types. Students instructed by experienced histologists will practise identification of principal structures in tissues with the use of light microscopes. Moreover, the students become familiar with principles of processing digitalized images and modern tuition tools incl. library of histological slides, internet atlases, virtual microscopes and interactive images of histological slides. Embryology seminars add some information on first stages of embryonic development and summarize principles of formation of first embryonic structures. Subject will be finished with a credit which will be given to those who were present in all seminars.

Conditions for obtaining credits
Participation in all seminars. One absence apologized by e-mail (to the secretary or assistant) in advance! is accepted. More than 3 absences (even apologized in advance) are not accepted. The absences can be compensated by a written essay on the missed theme (min. 3 handwritten pages, size A4) which must be handed to the assistant responsible for practical classes (or to the secretary) within 1 week after your return to school. If the absence will be not compensated by essay within 1 week, you have to write 9 pages (A4) per each missed classes. All essays have to be handed to assistant (or secretary) on last practical classes at the latest, or you'll be dropped from elective subject.

All practicals/seminars begins at 2:00 p.m.

Characteristic of the subject
Seminars oriented on practical study of histological slides of tissues and organs from distinct systems. The main task of the seminars is the process of differential diagnostics for the correct identification of organs. Embryology seminars provide the explanation of problem chapters in human prenatal development with the accent on difficult topics in the embryogenesis and organogenesis.
